- What’s exactly the waterproofness ? How is she calculated ?
Watches are made with mechanicals and electronics parts wich don’t support the water or humidty attacks.
Here, the waterproofness for a watch can be defined as her water resistance.
When you buy a watch, make sure that you’re informed about her waterproofness (in the table above) to avoid any deception in the future.
The waterproofness is established in a laboratory, in correct conditions, thaht’s to say with a regular temperature and a perfect immobility.
- Is waterproofness valid for the life ?
She’s defined for a new watch equipped with new parts. Even if she is calculated when the watch was made, the waterproofness isn’t warranty for the life. The duration can change following the model of the watch, the use of her and the care brought to her. A circle watch runs fewer risks than an other one with a complicate shape.
Thermal shocks or extreme variation of temperature (hot/cold) can affect the normal ageing and condition of the joints.
- What can i do to keep my watch in safety ?
Salt, perspiration, parfum, or chimical products, attack the joints of the watch and reduce the duration of the waterproofness. We suggest to you to regulary check the good condition of the watch : outer bezel, crown, crystal and joints. Don’t using the outer bezel and the crown in the water and check this parts before going in the water.
- How can i notice a defective waterproofness ?
If you see any damages or abnormalities on the watch, avoid any contact with water. Humidity and water infiltrations can cause expensive repair. Note that a water codensation under the crystal or on the dial means that the watch is no more waterproof and needs to be repair as soon as possible by a professionnal.
- How many times i need to check my watch ?
When the watch is open for any reason, it would be recommanded to verify the waterproofness, especially if you use it regulary in the water or in a wet atmosphere. We suggest to you to look at the waterproofness of your watch every year even if you don’t use it often in the water.
